Memento Mori: life is fleeting and transformation to another state is inevitable. This was a frequent theme of European religious art from the medieval to the Victorian eras and the main inspiration for my upcoming solo recital, slated to premiere in Chicago in early December 2018. I'm working with composers Alejandro Acierto, Lisa Atkinson, Jacob Sudol, and LJ White to expand the solo viola repertoire, and to take my own artistic career into a space that encompasses both ensemble and solo performance. The program will also include a previously composed solo by Katherine Pukinskis (Quiet Threnody, 2015), written for me as part of the University of Chicago's Project Incubator.
