Memento Mori: life is fleeting and transformation to another state is inevitable. A frequent theme of European religious art from the medieval to the Victorian eras, memento mori is the underlying concept behind a series of new works for solo viola. I’ll be joined by vocalist Amanda DeBoer Bartlett and clarinetist Alejandro T. Acierto as I perform newly composed pieces by Alejandro Acierto, Lisa Atkinson, Jacob Sudol, and LJ White as well as Katherine Pukinskis' Quiet Threnody (2015). Concert is free with museum admission, and I highly recommend finding Beth Lipman’s amazing sculpture, Laid Table (Still Life with Metal Pitcher before the show, as it provided some of the initial inspiration for this show.
