Memento Mori at the Milwaukee Art Museum

Memento Mori: life is fleeting and transformation to another state is inevitable. A frequent theme of European religious art from the medieval to the Victorian eras, memento mori is the underlying concept behind a series of new works for solo viola. I’ll be joined by vocalist Amanda DeBoer Bartlett and clarinetist Alejandro T. Acierto as I perform newly composed pieces by Alejandro Acierto, Lisa Atkinson, Jacob Sudol, and LJ White as well as Katherine Pukinskis' Quiet Threnody (2015). Concert is free with museum admission, and I highly recommend finding Beth Lipman’s amazing sculpture, Laid Table (Still Life with Metal Pitcher before the show, as it provided some of the initial inspiration for this show.

Program (* denotes World Premiere):

Katherine Pukinskis, Quiet Threnody for solo viola
LJ White, Look After You for solo viola (Chicago Premiere)
Lisa Atkinson,* (te) salve for solo viola
Alejandro T. Acierto,* Here, where we continually arrive for viola and electronics
Jacob Sudol,* after parting – 在離去之後 for viola, voice, clarinet, electronic

Ensemble Dal Niente: Party 2018

Dal Niente's annual Party is a free-for-all of open seating, drinks and bites, and all the new music you could hope for from an epic concert evening. I'll be performing new works by Sky Macklay and Chris Fisher-Lochhead, but the centerpiece of the evening will be soprano Carrie Henneman-Shaw's new staging of Pierrot Lunaire, the final work in this seasons's STAGED series.
